Your Responsibilities are:

  • Paying your bill by the due date.  Your bill is due and payable the moment you receive it;
  • Contacting our office if you have not received your bill;
  • Protection of the domestic water supply to ensure drinking water does not become contaminated (see Cross Connection Plan);
  • Keeping the property at the service address free from any obstruction which would hamper the reading and maintenance of the meter.
  • To make sure Huntsville Utility has your correct phone number.

 

 

urgentCaution:  If you use on-line bill pay it can take upto 14 days to reach our office.  Banks physically cut us a check and mail it to us.  They may not mail it out until 4-5 days AFTER you pay on-line.  Then you have mail delivery time.  It is not automatically credited to Huntsville Utility to credit your account.  Don't let this be the cause of your water being disconnected.

 

 

 

Paying Your Bill:

  • Each month pay the amount due by the due date.  After the due date, pay the amount due plus the 10% late penalty.  NO "FINAL NOTICE" will be mailed.  HUD has an automated phone system that will call if your bill is not paid after the 15th of each month, providing we have your correct phone number.  You will have until the 20th of each month, after this day your meter is subject to disconnection.
  • HUD mails all bills around the 16th of each month.  They are due the moment you receive your bill.  You will have until the 15th of the following month before any penalties are applied.
  • HUD is not responsible for delivery of your bill.  Failure to receive a bill does not entitle you to be relieved of payment, penalties, or disconnection fees.

Disconnection of Service


Service will be subject to disconnection if the payment is not received in our office by the 20th of each month.  Disconnections are handled in accordance with the utilities workload.  Once service is disconnected for non-payment, the total amount of the late bill plus a reconnection fee must be paid to restore service.  It is your responsibility to inform us that service has been disconnected when making your payment.  Failure to do so could result in a delay in having your service restored.  Accounts reconnected after normal business hours are subject to an after hours reconnection fee.
